Corina Koolen is a PhD candidate in Digital Humanities at the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC, University of Amsterdam). She is liaised with the Riddle of Literary Quality, in which she focuses on the comparison of descriptions in current-day Dutch novels. More specifically, on the descriptions of characters’ physical appearance: do characters ‘look’ different in novels that are seen as literary versus those that are seen as less literary? And are they described in a different way? Her supervisors are Prof. Dr. Rens Bod and Prof. Dr. Karina van Dalen-Oskam.
Corina holds a bachelor degree in Literature (2009) and master’s degrees in Book & Digital Media Studies (2010) and Language and Artificial Intelligence (2003).
